This is our story.
Grand Valley's art department
was a small building, full of talented and dreamy eyed students. It just
so happened to be where Dan saw me for the first time. Even though it
took weeks for him to even say hi, he eventually did. Four years later,
we were saying "I do" on the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
In
the past five years of marriage, life has thrown us a lot of obstacles,
as it tends to do, but we have made the most of it and have enjoyed
ourselves. We started off in Michigan, but due to a lack of income and
jobs in our respective fields, we found ourselves packing up our cars
and driving to Portland, Oregon. It was there that our married life
began. Dan worked as a creative for a marketing company and I worked as a
graphic designer/marketing coordinator for a real estate company.
Eventually
the economy got the better of us, once again, and Dan started his own
web design company after being let go. Despite the tough times, we were
set on having adventures. We found ourselves touring the state of Oregon
on the weekends in search of great hikes and forgotten campgrounds.
Bears, creek crossing, rock climbing, and many many miles later, we had
so many great experiences with friends.
A few big road
trips were put in the photo books; national parks had been seen; meals
cooked on the side of the road were eaten. Yes, we've had some amazing
times!
In October of 2012, we welcomed the newest
addition to our family when little Jane was born. She is by far the
greatest adventure we have had yet! Shortly after she joined us, Dan was
offered a dream job designing video games. One caveat to the offer,
we'd have to move from Portland to San Francisco. The choice was easy,
but the move wasn't. During the week of Thanksgiving, we said goodbye to
our Portland friends and headed to the Bay Area to make a new home.
Now
that we are in California, we have a whole new state to explore and I
get to spend my days with our little girl, the greatest job in the
world!
