Sauvie Island

It might not look like much, but the Sauvie Island hike left me waking up to sore hips and legs the next morning. A nice easy 6 mile hike out and back took us along the beach of the Columbia River up to the Warrior Rock Lighthouse (pictures coming soon on my flickr account). Dan and I got a bit of a late start in the day, had no idea where we were going, and didn't even know where the trail head was.

Once we got going though, we saw the nest of a Bald Eagle, very cool, and some other water fowl that were too far away for us to identify. Also, there were a handfull of nanner slugs on the trail that were the size of my hand. They're nasty looking suckers, but very cool to come across.

Hiking the trail was a great way to spend a lazy Sunday with my husband in the outdoors. We'll defenitly be back.
